Notice to all sailors

As you are all aware that when the Corona virus hit and the nationwide lockdown was imposed, all activity stopped at the Great Moor Sailing Club. As the lockdown has been eased, sailing came back, on a social basis. Clubs around the country have already restarted racing and open meeting and championships are now taking place, although heavily modified under Covid rules. The sailing committee now wants to restart racing at the Great Moor sailing club too.

This Sunday is the last of the Assisted Sailing sessions that the club has been putting on. Next Sunday (Sept. 13th), which should have been the clubs Bart's Bash Race/Ladies and Juniors Regatta, the sailing committee would like to re-introduce a more distanced type of racing. So we are going to put on 2 Pursuit Races, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. This type of racing means that boats starting time is according to their handicap and the race has a defined time, at which all boats should be finishing together.

So, all you racers and anyone who wants to have a go at racing, please come along on Sunday 13th, September and give it a go.

A socially distanced briefing will take place on the decking by the new Race Hut at 10.30am to explain.

The club and Sailing Committee will be reviewing all upcoming sailing events and racing series and announcements will be posted when decisions have been made.

We are looking forward to racing restarting at Great Moor. See you there.
