Congratulations to seven Great Moor Sailing Club members who successfully completed the RYA Safety Boat Course at the club over the weekend of 17–18 October 2026.
Ed Jacobs, Paul Firth, Innes Eaton, Adrian Dixon, Matt Owen, Jo Brown and Paul Buckle join our volunteer safety boat team, strengthening the essential cover provided for Sunday fleet racing, club events and regattas.

All seven are also qualified first aiders. The course covered cold water immersion, person-overboard recovery, VHF radio use, and the recovery and towing of a wide range of craft, including dinghies, kayaks, canoes, paddleboards and windsurfers. Participants also practised mark laying and racecourse management alongside our Race Officers.
The weekend was a team effort. Club members and volunteers acted as casualties in the water, helped launch and recover boats, and organised the equipment needed to deliver a comprehensive programme of practical training.
A huge thank you to everyone who supported the course, and congratulations to our seven newly qualified Safety Boat Drivers. Their contribution helps members enjoy their time on the water safely and keeps our club activities running.
