Restrictions
Kayak /Canoe / Paddleboard - Permitted areas
Canoes, kayaks or other paddle craft must keep clear of sailing/racing craft and must stay between the edge of the lake and outside of the racing buoys. This is because the water is very deep in the middle of the lake and so can be very cold - if there was an issue, you have a better chance to swim to safety from the edges of the lake!
The only exception to this rule is in the case of properly organised groups under the supervision of BCU L2 instructor.
No craft should be left on the foreshore, or slipways, restricting access.
Minimum ages
Persons under the age of 18 years may sail or canoe only when supervised by a parent or an adult nominated by a parent.
Swimming / bathing
Bathing is not permitted anywhere within the club premises unless organised and managed by specialist groups, approved by the committee.
Jumping or diving off boats/boards or the pontoons is prohibited.
Divers
Divers occasionally use the water and this will be indicated by a sign on the gate and / or an "A" flag, as below, being flown from the flagpole.
If using the water whilst the Divers are under the water, then you must keep clear of their operation - if in doubt speak to their dive master (usually based on the club house decking).
