Member Conduct & Safeguarding
Conduct
The Committee will appoint a Duty Committee Member, Duty Race Officer and may appoint other officials required to supervise the Club's sailing and activity programme.
It is earnestly requested that every member of the Club, visitor or guest should willingly comply with directions given by such officials to facilitate the safe and free movement of people and craft around the site.
The Club also expects all Members and their guests to show respect and understanding to each other, treat everybody equally and conduct themselves in a way that reflects the principles of the club.
Abusive, aggressive or discriminatory language or behaviour, or lack of respect for other people and their property, will not be tolerated.
Misconduct should be reported to the Committee and may lead to disciplinary action.
Safeguarding
Great Moor Sailing Club actively seeks to:
- Create a safe and welcoming environment, both on and off the water, where children can have fun and develop their skills and confidence.
- Run RYA approved training and events to the highest possible safety standards.
- Treat all children with respect and celebrate their achievements.
- Carefully select all officers and volunteers.
- Respond swiftly and appropriately to all complaints and concerns about poor practice or suspected or actual child abuse.
The Club is committed to safeguarding children taking part in its activities from physical, sexual or emotional harm, neglect or bullying.
We recognise that the safety, welfare and needs of the child are paramount and that all children, irrespective of age, disability, race, religion or belief, sex, sexual or gender identity or social status, have a right to protection from discrimination and abuse.
Misconduct should be reported to the Committee and may lead to disciplinary action.
See below for the latest Policy document, which contains contacts and processes for reporting any potential incidents - with all safeguarding it is better to report everything, than miss something.
