Once again it has been a busy few months for our band of travelling sailors; Alastair Brown competed in the Laser/ILCA 6 Nationals at Hayling Island SC in Mediterranean style heat finishing 12th out of 96 boats in a light wind event which is not his favourite conditions. He then went onto the RS Games an event held by RS every 4 years where all the RS classes compete over a couple of frenetic weeks at WPNSA. Alastair finished 3rd in the RS Aero 7 Youth World Championships and 8th in the Senior European Championships not bad for a boat he had only previously sailed for a couple of hours.

Howie Finn also made the trip down to WPNSA, finishing 48th in the RS Tera Pro fleet, with his top finish an impressive 14th in his first event of this size. Howie is now the proud owner of a Laser and we look forward to seeing him out racing with it at the Club over the winter months!

Meanwhile the Blake family have been flying the flag for GMSC at numerous events; Roger and Jamie competing the Osprey at Burnham Week, Osprey Nationals and Weymouth Dinghy Regatta (2nd, 24th one day only, and 2nd repectively). Jamie competed in the Laser Nationals in the ILCA 7 rig and Iain, Jenny and Roger made the trip out to Vilamora, Portugal for the 470 Youth Europeans where Iain and his helm finished 23rd. Not forgetting Jenny, who has the vital role of chief support crew!!

Back home at GMSC, Summer racing has continued apace, with a total of 27 racers entering for the summer series; around 6/7 racing each week. It is great to see some new faces braving the racing as well as the stalwarts. The one day EP Barrus cup competition saw 11 entrants on a light and shifty day, but the Ladies and Junior regatta was less well supported clearly, more encouragement needs to be done on this one for next year

We are now into the Autumn Series and look forward to seeing everyone out on the water to make the most of the weather before winter sets in!
