Milestones in club history

The club was formed in 1972 by a group which included the then Bicester garrison and a number of civilian sailors, a view on that can be read here by Tony Blair, one of the founder mmembers. Below we have attempted to set out some key milestones in the clubs history. If you know of more or spot any errors then let us know and we can update the list.

  • 1970 - Club formed
  • 19?? - Clubhous first extension (area now mens changing rooms and office)
  • 1983 - Club house second extension built (area now bar galley, lady's change and access toilet)
  • 1996 - Fleet of 8 Kestrels purchased to enhance fleet of club boats (arrived April 13th)
  • 1998 - Site purchased with aid of Lottery grant
  • 200? - RYA training centre status in own right
  • 2007 - Renovation project of clubhouse started
  • 2008 - Finish major part of renovation and construct decking area
  • 2010 - HS2 distractions start
  • 2013 - Renovation of portable cabin and creation of training room
  • 2016 - New main pontoon
  • 2017 - New second pontoon
